Nicholas Mamey, LMSW

Supervised By Louis Laves-Webb, LCSW, LPC-S

I see courage and bravery whenever a client shares their story, and I feel honored to be a part of their healing journey. Our lives can take each of us in different directions and can contain various experiences to include: insecurities, confusion, anxiety, depression, and many other emotional states. Despite the chaos in our lives, one thing remains true: We don’t have to do it alone. Recognizing this takes a mature and strong person, and it is my hope to help facilitate your journey towards finding peace, clarity, and emotional well-being.

My name is Nicholas Mamey, LMSW and my therapeutic practice is centered around a strength-based and goal oriented approach grounded in open communication and transparency while providing an environment free of judgment. I approach therapy with an emphasis on being grounded in the present while shedding light on the fact that our upbringing, past experiences, and systems we come from greatly inform the way we experience and handle the world around us. When we dive into the past we can often uncover much of the source of our distress and as we heal from the past we begin to recognize what is actually in our power to change. Ironically, when we let go of the need to control the things we can't, then we gain control. I empower my clients while challenging patterns in the way they think about the world around them and the way they perceive themselves.

Every client comes to therapy with different goals in mind, which means the focus and experience in therapy is going to be unique for each client. With this in mind, I primarily utilize a variety of techniques found in CBT, Psychodynamic psychotherapy, Narrative Therapy, and IFS. I also provide Christian counseling.

I work with Adolescents, Adults, Individuals, and Couples.

My focuses include:

  • ADHD
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Life Transitions
  • Relationship Issues
  • Men’s Issues
  • Marriage Counseling
  • Spirituality

What is Christian Counseling?

Christian counseling uses techniques and methods typically found in other forms of talk therapy while incorporating theological understandings found in the Christian tradition. While most forms of therapy focus on the connection of the mind and body, Christian counseling actively recognizes that the soul also plays a role in one's overall wellbeing. Incorporating the spiritual aspect of the person in the process of understanding and healing can be very beneficial for many seeking help in their lives. Education & Experience:

In 2012 I received my Bachelors Degree in Religious Studies and Human Development from Hellenic College. Soon after I received my MDiv (2014) and ThM (2016) from Holy Cross in Brookline, MA. I received my Masters in Social Work (MSW) in 2019 from Fordham University in Bronx, NY.

I have a very wide range of experience working as a therapist. My first year of practicum was spent counseling adolescents after school in the projects of South Boston. During my second year I worked as a case manager for Alzheimer’s Orange County. After graduation I spent nearly 2 years working as a behavioral health clinician for public conservatorships under the Orange County Healthcare Agency. For years I have volunteered and worked at many non-profits assisting those in need.

I am recognized by the State of Texas as a Licensed Master Social Worker
