I believe that therapy is both an experience and a relationship. The experience is one of feeling seen and understood, and from it comes a greater internal awareness and an altered sense of self. As a therapist, I work to create a safe and loving environment that allows for self-inquiry and for exploration of the many parts that make up our beings. At the core of this process of self-inquiry is the relationship between client and therapist, which I believe serves as a vessel for the growth and healing that occurs in therapy.
Together, we can explore and build upon your existing strength and capabilities in order to cultivate greater happiness and fulfillment. We will also work to nurture and make peace with the parts of yourself and your environment that you may fear or dislike. I believe that each individual and family brings to therapy everything that they already need to make change, and it is my privilege to help you discover those parts of yourself that may lie deep within. As a therapist, I hold a balance of compassion and intellectual curiosity as I join with my clients in their journey of self-inquiry. I enjoy bringing humor and lightheartedness into my work, and I approach my work with clients in a collaborative and deeply respectful manner.
I offer individual and group therapy for adults and couples. I also am experienced in working with children, adolescents and families. I have experience working with a variety of issues, including family conflict, emotional regulation, communication, boundaries, attachment-based traumas, identity, gender, sexuality, depression, anxiety and specific phobias. Additionally, I have received training in several child- and family-focused modalities, including Trust-Based Relational Interventions, Theraplay, and child-centered play therapy.
I received a B.A. in Psychology with an adjunct degree in Gender and Sexuality Studies at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL and subsequently earned a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin. I am a licensed LMSW in the state of Texas. In addition to my work with Louis Laves-Webb & Associates, I have provided therapy services at The Settlement Home and at Lifeworks, where I also currently work as a therapist in the Youth and Family Counseling department. In my spare time, I can most often be found at the park with my faithful canine companion Lou. I am also an avid hiker and a roller derby enthusiast.
