Hello,
I’m Emily, and I’m glad you’re here.
We often seek therapy when we’ve reached an inflection point in our lives, which can make entering into therapy a bit intimidating at times. My hope is that I can make this process clearer, more approachable, and easily accessible for you.
At the core of my therapeutic practice is a relational, cultural, and strengths-based perspective. In practice, I employ a collaborative, client-centered approach and aim to bring curiosity, openness, and authenticity to each session. This means that each session is tailored to you by incorporating your salient identity factors, specific needs, and unique strengths.
I am here to encourage you to dig deeper beneath the surface while also empowering you to increase your resiliency, emotional capacity, and overall efficacy. In addition to working from a relational perspective, I often bring insight from other theories, including interpersonal neurobiology and attachment theory, to help provide a deeper understanding of the feelings, thoughts, and behaviors that you bring into therapy.
While the goals and focus of therapy are different for each person, there can be immense power in shining a light on the shadows of your life with another person.
My clinical experience includes working with adolescents, emerging adults, and adults with various mental health concerns across different clinical settings. Additionally, I have extensive knowledge and experience working with adolescents and adults with alcohol and substance misuse issues.
I work with adolescents, emerging adults, individuals, and couples.
My focuses include:
After receiving my bachelor’s degree in Communications and Psychology from the University of Michigan, I worked in marketing, non-profit fundraising, and acute psychiatric care. These experiences led me to pursue graduate school at the University of Texas, where I earned my master’s degree in Clinical Social Work.
Outside of my clinical practice, I enjoy exploring the outdoors with my dog, playing soccer and pickleball with friends, listening to podcasts, and paddleboarding with my partner.
